Our History
The Washtenaw Saints were formed in 2010, when two CALA teams were merged together. Plymouth Christian Academy decided to roll their players on the Eagles, a CALA team partnered with PCA, into their own athletic department. The remaining players were merged with the Washtenaw Stallions, a team based in Ypsilanti. Under the guidance of Coach Jones, a new name was selected, the Washtenaw Saints.
In 2011, Greg Goodman took over as head coach, and was able to build the team into a formidable unit, winning the CALA championship in 2012, and coaching the team to mulitple perfect seasons. The team moved to the Ann Arbor area, with players coming from many surrounding communities to play football, including Livonia, Clinton, Chelsea, Saline, and Milan.
Paul Bowser assumed the position of head coach in 2016, establishing a strong defensive unit, as well as a focus on fundamentals. During his time as head coach, the Saints began to branch out in the opponents they faced, mixing in some public and private schools in the area, providing the team with stout competition. This was also an opportunity to give witness to Christ for many teams and players who may not be often exposed to young men who play with grace and humility.
In 2019, Kirk Parrish moved into the head coach position. He brought with him many years of experience, having previously been an assistant coach, and a head coach for the Saints JV team. His expertise in preparation and fundamentals has led to a team that is disciplined on and off the field. In addition, his christian ministry is a great example for the young men playing on the team, who bare witness to the opponents they face on the field of play.
